Butter speculoos

Speculoos or Speculaas a classic.
The difference between the two is the seasoning. Speculaas uses more spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger powder, cardamom and white pepper. But in the 20th century, these southern herbs were too expensive. So they have not used It and made a distinction. Speculaas with herbs. Speculoos without spices.
The base remains dark candy sugar and flour and often also cinnamon.
This is a biscuit best known in Belgium and the Netherlands. Popular around Saint Martin and of course Sinterklaas.
But today the cookie is eaten all year round with coffee or with desserts.
Processed in desserts, for example Cheese cake with a speculoos base.
